Juliann Mullen- Founder and Group Leader of Touched By Suicide
Juliann was born and raised in Greenville, NC. She spent time in Wilmington, NC for college. She now lives back in Greenville, NC with her daughter, Airlie, and boyfriend, Ryan. She enjoys spending time with family, volleyball, art, teaching kindergarten, and watching her daughter in musicals!
Turning Pain into Purpose
Juliann lost her mother in 2017 to suicide and a little over a year later in 2018 her husband to the same. Met with an incredibly unique grief she sought answers and peace with little to no avail. She was confronted with the stigma that suicide and mental health have, especially in the Christian and church community. After seeking professional help and reconnecting with her faith she was able to confront the overwhelming and traumatic experiences she had witnessed. She then felt a calling to start a support group in her area. While starting up her support group, Juliann decided to wage war on the stigma and taboo that is attached to suicide and mental health by being open, honest, and raw about her experiences in an attempt to raise awareness and ultimately prevention. She wants to do all she can to prevent others from experiencing the grief she has felt after her loss, to show others that it is okay to not be okay, and to reach out for help. She gives all credit to God for giving her the strength to move forward and seeks his wisdom in helping others through her group.
